PHILOSOPHY

At NAHBI-H, we decided to be one of those who CHANGE THE WORLD ……..   and we’ve adopted a simple and clear philosophy for our work: any study or project we undertake must be built upon the spirit of a unique, reliable and evolutionary work, in line with recognized circumstances of everyone.

NABNI-H is not only a tool of business, but also a philosophy of life. Art, Architecture and Heritage preservation are interrelated and can lead to building a better world – one that is more human, peaceful and joyful … We ask: Is building the future insulated from history?  We answer: evidently not.

And we weave the stories of time together using notions of inspiration, creativity, authenticity, contemporaneity and many others.

We believe everyone must be able to express his / her convictions and define them under a human umbrella, in the framework of building a shared and constructive vision which is limitless.  

But knowledge and technology alone are not enough anymore…… Therefore, at NABNI-H we strive to take our work to another level of life:  a transcendent state, a spiritual and mystical one.  Certainly, this is a long ride with delicate obstacles. Nevertheless, the ambitions and challenges are always exciting. 

FOUNDATIONS

Following long years of education and training around the world, we founded a firm to tackle this ambitious goals in the City of Lights in France in February 2017 and in the city of Science and Business, Boston, MA, USA in February 2022. Our name expresses what we are looking for: NABNI in Arabic means WE BUILD. As for [H], it signifies HUMANITY…… 

So, WE STRIVE TO BUILD HUMANITY…… a huge undertaking in both our personal and professional lives.

ANAS SOUFAN BIO:

Be that as it may, being an artist, inventor and permanent reformer in any job, project, mission or publication is Anas’ major human and professional conviction.

Anas is a Syrian French Artist, Author, Architect and Historian of Art. He holds a B. A. and M.A. from the Faculty of Architecture of Damascus University, a DEA in History from the University Paris I – Pantheon – Sorbonne and a Ph.D. in the History of Art from the Ecole pratique des Hautes Etudes – Sorbonne, Paris. From 2013 to 2016, he assumed postdoctoral positions at the University of Geneva in Switzerland and MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA - USA. From September 2023, he starts his new career as a Associate Researcher in the University of HARVARD, Cambridge, in the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, CMES in coordination with the GSD. Hence, Anas’ professional career integrates academic researches with professional skills through projects in situ, artifacts creation, international missions, expertise, consulting and publications.

His scholarly interests include the Arab Renaissance era -an-bahdah; the architecture of Modernity in MENA; the Colonial and post-Colonial criticism; the post-conflict / post-disaster reconstruction and the development of cultural heritage. In this framework, Anas was appointed as panelist-advisor for the International Council on Monuments & Sites ICOMOS for the evaluation of dossiers of inscription of cultural sites on the World Heritage List; an expert at UNESCO’s program for the preservation of the architecture of Modernity-s in the Arab world; an expert at UNESCO’s initiatives related to the post-war reconstruction of Syrian cities and sites; an advisor and external research associate for several universities, centers of studies and NGOs worldwide. In late 2022, Anas edited a book focusing on the vision of the conservation and development of the cultural heritage in the Arab World. It is the initiative of the Arab Regional Center for World Heritage, the ARC-WH, a UNESCO office in Manama - Bahrein. Anas has also published and presented tens of articles and lectures in Arabic, English and French around the Globe.

Anas’ artistic and architectural activities were officially launched in 2000 when he enrolled in the Order of Engineers and Architects in Syria and started working in two leading offices of urban and architectural studies in Damascus. At the same time, he took a teaching position in the Faculty of Architecture of Damascus. A new page opened when he arrived in Paris in late 2004 to work toward a Ph.D in History of Art and to develop his professional career. In 2010, Anas joined the Maison des Artistes de Paris and in 2017, he founded his own company NABNI-H and its American branch NABNI-H US. in 2022. Through this special professional structure combining art, history and architectural design, Anas offers a wide range of services of interior and exterior design, coordination of studies, program’s management, supervision of projects to clinics, houses-apartments, villas; of studies and projects of heritage conservation and rehabilitation; of artistic painting, artifacts. manufacture and other artistic creations.
